The Galaxy-galaxy Autocorrelation Function for the Las Campanas Redshift Survey
نویسندگان
چکیده
The Las Campanas Redshift Survey (LCRS) is a galaxy survey which extends to a red-shift of 0.2 and which is composed of a total of 6 alternating 1:5 80 Slices in the North and South Galactic Caps. Now in its nal stages, the Survey contains approximately 26,400 galaxy redshifts. We present here a deenitive LCRS galaxy-galaxy autocorrela-tion function gg (s), its comparison to the gg (s) from various theoretical models, and a discussion of the impact of the unique character of the LCRS galaxy selection criteria on the measurement of the observed gg (s).

The Las Campanas Redshift Survey Results: the Redshift-space Autocorrelation Function
Presented are measurements from the Las Campanas Redshift Survey (LCRS) of the galaxy-galaxy autocorrelation function in redshift-space, gg (s). For separations 2:0h ?1 Mpc < s < 16:4h ?1 Mpc, gg (s) can be approximated by a power law with slope = ?1:52 0:03 and correlation length s 0 = 6:28 0:27h ?1 Mpc. A zero-crossing occurs on scales of 30 ? 40h ?1 Mpc. On larger scales, gg (s) uctuates clo...
متن کاملLas Campanas Redshift Survey Results: the 3d Power Spectrumand the Luminosity Function
Some recent results on the galaxy 3D power spectrum and the luminosity function derived from the Las Campanas Redshift Survey (LCRS) are discussed. We will present the LCRS power spectrum, compare it against results from other local redshift surveys, and use it to constrain a number of cold dark matter structure formation models. Then we will proceed to describe the LCRS luminosity function, as...
متن کاملDensity-Dependent Luminosity Functions for Galaxies in the Las Campanas Redshift Survey
Galaxies in the Las Campanas Redshift Survey are classified according to their spectra, and the resulting spectral types are analyzed to determine if local environment affects their properties. We find that the luminosity function of early-type objects varies as a function of local density. Our results suggest that early-type galaxies (presumably ellipticals and S0’s) are, on average, fainter w...
متن کاملGalaxy Cluster Correlation Function to Z ∼ 1.5 in the Irac Shallow Cluster Survey
We present the galaxy cluster autocorrelation function of 277 galaxy cluster candidates with 0.25 ≤ z ≤ 1.5 in a 7 deg2 area of the IRAC Shallow Cluster Survey. We find strong clustering throughout our galaxy cluster sample, as expected for these massive structures. Specifically, at 〈z〉 = 0.5 we find a correlation length of r0 = 17.40+3.98 −3.10 h −1 Mpc, in excellent agreement with the Las Cam...
متن کاملThe Universe on Very Large Scales: A View from the Las Campanas Redshift Survey
The Las Campanas Redshift Survey (LCRS) is among the first galaxy redshift surveys to sample a reasonably fair volume of the local Universe. On the largest scales (≫ 100 h Mpc), the galaxy distribution appears smooth; on relatively small scales ( < ∼ 10 h Mpc), the LCRS tends to confirm the clustering characteristics observed in previous, shallower surveys. Here, however, we concern ourselves p...
